Whisky Smoked Sea Salt

Sea salt flakes are smoked gently over aged oak whisky barrels - the color is a toasted brown. 2.8 ounces packed in a resealable pouch. Enjoy on fish, steak and burgers. American oak is first made into barrels for aging bourbon, then sent to Scotland to add flavor and color to Scotch whisky. When the barrels are 'spent' and no longer impart that extra color and flavor, they are dismantled and sold for smokers. Hawkhead Whisky Smoked sea salt flakes get their color and flavor from burning these whisky soaked barrel staves.

Whisky Smoked Sea Salt

This is our second purchase of the Whisky Smoked Sea Salt. I like the smoking process followed in creating this product. The light smoke flavor compliments many of the meat and sauce recipes we use.

This is absolutely delicious salt. Very strong smoked/whisky aroma and taste. If you want to add a touch of soul warming smoke as a finish to a great meal, this is what you need.

I love this whisky sea salt on top of steak. I broil a steak, remove from oven and flip it, then add a good dash of the salt and return to the broiler. A minute or so before the steak is done, remove again and add a pat of butter before returning to the broiler to finish up. Soooo good!
