FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- When will you ship my order? We normally ship your order on the next business day unless it includes perishable goods. Perishable orders ship on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Orders placed after 2PM ship the next day. EXAMPLE: If you order on Saturday or Sunday, your order should ship out on Monday. EXAMPLE: Order on Wednesday after 2PM, your order will ship Thursday if no perishables, It will ship on Monday, if your order includes perishables. During the busy holiday season, it may take 3-5 days for your order to ship. We will post clear information about when orders placed will ship above the shopping cart to let you know before you complete your order.
- When will I get my order? We ship your order quickly and use UPS to deliver the parcel to you. Transit time depends on the shipping method, and the distance to your shipping location. Perishable products shipping on Monday will be delivered on Wednesday, Ground shipping orders may take 2-7 days to arrive. You will get a tracking email from UPS on the afternoon that your order ships and that email will give you a projected date of delivery. We ship all orders from our warehouse in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ground orders take 2-3 days to most East Coast locations, while ground orders to Texas take 3-4 transit days, and to the West Coast, orders take 5-7 transit days.
- Can I cancel my order? If you need to cancel your order, please call us as soon as possible at 877-814-3663. We ship orders very quickly for most of the year and we cannot stop your order once it has shipped. so please let us know quickly!
- Do I have to pay sales tax on my order? We now collect sales tax on all non-food products and candy shipping to Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia.
- Where are you shipping my order from? We ship all our orders from our warehouse in Greensboro, North Carolina. We use UPS shipping for orders, this includes Sure Post that may be delivered to your mailbox.
- Can I request a future ship date? Absolutely, we love getting orders in advance of major holidays. Simply add a message in the SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO SELLER box during checkout. You can say - ship this for Burns Night, Christmas, Easter or give us the birthday of the lucky person and we'll schedule the ship date accordingly.
- Are all your products made in Scotland? Most of our foods are made in Scotland, the major exception is anything with meat or processed with meat. There is a ban on all meat product and processed meats going back to the 1980's and BSE or Mad Cow Disease. All our meats, pies, haggis, bangers and bacon are made here in the US using Scottish recipes to give you the taste of Scotland. Many of our mugs, teatowels, coasters, drinking glasses, flasks, quaiches and tankards are also made in the UK. Other products like shortbread pans, cookie stamps, scone pans and scone mixes are made here in the USA. Check the Ingredients tab on each product for more details.
- What are perishable foods? This includes haggis, bacon, bangers, smoked fish, cheese, meat pies, frozen breads like scones or Sticky Toffee Pudding, and Clotted Cream. All perishable products must ship by Perishable Shipping for delivery in two to three days. When you checkout you will be offered 2nd Day Air or Next Day Air for shipping methods.
- Can you pack perishables and shortbread or mugs in the same box? Yes! We pack your perishable items in a thermal pouch or recyclable cooler with ice packs, and the items that do not need to be cold on top of the box, or on the side. We want to save you money on shipping and protect the environment with the least possible packaging for every order.
- Do you use styrofoam coolers and dry ice to protect perishables in transit? No, we use thermal coolers and pouches filled with recycled fabric and frozen gel packs. The box is recyclable, the liners filled with fabric can be reused or shredded fabric can be added to compost, or used as mulch in the garden. The gel packs can be refrozen and reused.
- Will my perishables arrive still frozen? We pack your perishables to stay cold for 48 to 60 hours - some thawing may occur in transit, and you can return all perishables (except Cheese and Clotted Cream) to the freezer. All our perishable products are sealed to prevent any outside contamination, and all meat products require reheating before you consume them. If your perishables arrive HOT - above the temperature of your refrigerator or approximately 45 degrees, please call us to request a refund or replacement at 877-814-3663 or email us at help@scottishgourmetusa.com.
- What does your Satisfaction Guarantee mean for me? Our Satisfaction Guarantee means we select the best products, pack them carefully so they arrive safely and stand behind our products. If you are dissatisfied for any reason, please call us. We will gladly replace or refund products damaged in transit or that don't meet your high standards.
