A classic Scottish sweet - sweet caramel (50%) separated by thin wafers and all covered in milk chocolate. Is it a cookie, yes, but it is also a chocolate bar. Four individually wrapped cookies/wafer biscuits inside the package so you can share or ration your consumption! Ha! Each biscuit measures 3/4 inch wide by 1/2 inch thick and 4 inches long. Crunchy, chewy, sweet and delicious to make you smile like the Scottish lad on the wrapper. Tunnock's says more the 6 million caramel wafer biscuits are made every week, and Andrew, my husband says his favorite childhood treat was one, just one, of these.

I ordered a few things from Scottish Gourmet as it is very difficult to post foodstuffs from Scotland. I have a great friend living in Missouri and I wanted her to try Haggis and Tunnock's Caramel Wafers. I can really recommend Scottish Gourmet to order from the UK to friends and family in the US. The wafer is completely sodden with a caramel that I imagine was so light that it seeped into everything and did it without bringing a strong caramel flavor. The chocolate was unremarkable as well, so it was a pretty big letdown. It was packaged well and included an ice pack, the candy itself was well made and packaged individually: it is just baffling how bland the recipe was. The third star is a bonus out of consideration for the professionalism of the importer and how satisfying the product was visually.

...the Scotch/Irish always have more to say! The caramel is subtle and they're not as crisp as one might expect a wafer bar to be. That being said, they are delicious and have been part of our order ever since we first had them. We're hoping the dark chocolate-covered version will cross the pond soon, too.
