Whisky authority Ian Buxton gave himself a set of rules when he began work on this helpful and elegant little book. First, he wanted to make sure that every whisky was readily available (to audiences in the UK), and that the bottles he championed weren't prohibitively expensive. These are whiskies that any fan of the spirit should try - as Buxton stresses in the title. The book is meant to further an evolving whisky education, not to point wealthy collectors toward ultra-rare bottles. And hardline Scottish whisky purists might want to either relax or find another whisky guide; Buxton does an admirable job of making the case for whiskies distilled in Japan, India, Finland and other countries, in addition to less surprising places like Kentucky and Ireland.
